Fraction Activity for First & Second Grade!

April 29, 2019

Fraction activities in first and second grade can be hard to come by. After learning about the difference between parts and whole and going over the “basic” fractions of 1/2 and 1/4, I find that my first graders are ready for a little bit more. That’s when I introduce the fun game, Fraction Wars!

This fraction activity has students rolling, creating, and comparing some basic fractions.

You can see how to play this game and grab the FREE recording sheet below:

*The recording sheet is in the description of the video above*

If you end up using this fun game, let me know by leaving me a comment or tagging me on instagram (@susanjonesteaching).

Need some new activities to help first grade students create and compare fractions? Head over to the blog post to see how to play Fraction Wars. This fun (and FREE) game has students rolling, creating, and comparing their fractions to see whose is bigger. The post also shares how to differentiate so this game works for second grade students as well.
