Outdoor math review: bean bag addition!

June 2, 2019

Bean bag addition is a great outdoor game to play this summer! When the sun is shining and it’s not too hot, I love getting students outdoors to review. This game does just that.

All you need to play this game is:

– some outdoor space

– sidewalk chalk

– and bean bags

I grabbed mine off amazon because I liked that there were 4 red and 4 blue so I could easily split students into two teams. You can see those below (please note, this is an affiliate link):

You can see how to play this game as well as some ideas for differentiation in the video below:

If you liked this game be sure to press subscribe over on my YouTube channel and click that little bell. That way you are notified of every new video I upload! I will be sharing new outdoor games to play each week of June 2019.

Pin to remember:

Bean bag addition is a fun game to play with your first and second grade students when the weather is nice! It has students form teams and try to get the biggest sum. Head on over to the post to see how to play and how to differentiate based on your students!

  • Hi Susan – great games that you come up with. This would also be great if you played first to 100, or any other number – that way they have to keep a running total.
