How do you use these in your classroom?

These task cards are a great hands on center for your students to complete either independently or with a partner. When students are moving through math centers, I like to assign these task cards for students to complete. You can also use these in small groups as you guide them through the activity and re-teach as needed.

What is included in this unit?

These task cards are a great way for students to practice identifying coins and their values, counting coins (mixed and same), and adding coin values. There are 6 different activities:

  • Coin Matching Activities: here students will work through different activities to identify coins, their names, and their values.
  • Count em up!: here students will count like coins to find their values and circle the correct one.
  • Count & Write: here students will count mixed coins and write the value on the line.
  • Which is biggest?: here students will count two groups of coins and circle the group that has the larger value.
  • Do I have enough?: here students will look at the item and its price. Then, count the coins to see if they have enough to purchase it. They can either circle or clip yes or no to show their answer.
  • How much do I need?: here students will add the two items and their values together to see how much money they need to purchase both items. They will write the total value in the green box.

Please note: these cards should be laminated so they can be used with dry-erase markers over and over again.

Please note: these task cards are already included in the SJT Math Club.
