How do you use these in your classroom?
These task cards are a great hands on center for your students to complete either independently or with a partner. When students are moving through math centers, I like to assign these task cards for students to complete. You can also use these in small groups as you guide them through the activity and re-teach as needed.
What is included in this unit?
These task cards are a great way for students to practice double digit subtraction, both with and without regrouping – the first 3 pages of each task are WITHOUT regrouping and the last 3 are WITH regrouping.
- Draw & Solve:Â here students will solve double digit subtraction problems with a 1-digit subtrahend. There is room for students to draw tens and ones in the box! Once solved, students will write the answer under the line.
- Solve & Clip:Â here students will solve the subtraction problems and clip the correct answer with a clothespin (or circle it with a dry-erase marker).
- Cross & Solve:Â here students will cross out the cubes, as needed to solve each problem and write the answer under the line.
- Solve A Story:Â here students will read the story problems and solve them. They can use the space to draw tens and ones, and format the subtraction problem in the boxes to the right (there is space for regrouping as needed).
- Match ‘em Puzzles: here students will solve the subtraction problems and solve by finding the matching pieces. (you will need to cut all these in half on the dotted lines).
Please note: these cards should be laminated so they can be used with dry-erase markers over and over again.
Please note: these task cards are already included in the SJT Math Club.
