Each month, the phonological/phonemic awareness skills build upon one another as do the math skills. There are 2 different formats for students to work with in August and there are 24 different morning worksheets in total.
In August, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify rhyming words
- Identifying the “odd one out” of rhyming words
- practice 1-to-1 correspondence with numbers 0-10
- work on number formation, numbers 0-10
- order numbers within 0-20
In September, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify how many syllables are in a word
- Identify words with the same number of syllables
- compare numbers within 20
- decompose numbers within 10 to make number bonds
In October, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify the beginning sounds of words
- Solve addition with 2 addends problems within 10
- Identify the first letter of a word
- Solve addition with 3 addends problems within 10
In November, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify images that end in the same sound
- Solve subtraction problems within 10
- Identify the last letter of a word
- Solve addition and subtraction problems within 10
In December, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Combine two words to make compound words
- Delete the first word of a compound word
- Identify 2D/3D shapes
- Identify shapes by their attributes
- Write the date
- Write a friend’s name
In January, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Blend together sounds to make words
- Blend onset and rime to make words
- Identify the tens and ones in a 2-digit number
- Identify the value of an underlined digit in a 2-digit number
- Generate rhymes
In February, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Identify how many sounds are in a spoken word (3-4 sounds)
- Identify the letters that match sounds in a spoken word (digraphs & blends)
- Practice solving addition within 20
- Practice solving subtraction within 20
In March, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Substitute initial phonemes of words and identify the image
- Create tally charts to show data
- Substitute initial phonemes and write the new word
- Analyze data from a bar graph and answer questions
In April, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Substitute medial phonemes of words and identify the image
- Order numbers within 100
- Substitute medial phonemes and write the new word
- Solve addition and subtraction problems within 50 using their choice of strategy
In May, students will:
- Identify the day of the week
- Substitute final phonemes of words and identify the image
- Solve addition and subtraction problems within 10
- Substitute final phonemes and write the new word
- Identify the missing part of the equation
