In unit 11, you will find over 130 slides designed to do the following:
- explicitly review all previously taught skills (letter sounds, digraphs, bonus letters, glued sounds, suffix -s, consonant blends, closed syllables, suffix -ed, -ing)
- explicitly teach silent e
- explicitly teach vowel-consonant-e syllables
- explicitly teach students how to blend sounds together to read words with silent e
- explicitly teach students to segment sounds to write words with silent e
- explicitly teach “trick” words using the heart word method for reading and writing
- explicitly teach sentence writing and fluent sentence reading
- prepare students for reading and writing words with 2 syllables (which comes in Unit 12).
