In unit 12, you will find over 130 slides designed to do the following:
- explicitly review all previously taught skills (letter sounds, digraphs, bonus letters, glued sounds, suffix -s, consonant blends, closed syllables, suffix -ed, -ing, vowel-consonant-e syllables)
- explicitly teach students how to blend syllables together to read multisyllabic words
- explicitly teach students to segment syllables and sounds to write multisyllabic words
- explicitly teach “trick” words using the heart word method for reading and writing
- explicitly teach sentence writing and fluent sentence reading
- prepare students for reading and writing words with 2 syllables and suffixes (which comes in Unit 13).
