- explicitly review all previously taught skills (letter sounds, digraphs, bonus letters, glued sounds, suffix -s, consonant blends, closed syllables, suffixes -ed, -ing, vowel-consonant-e syllables, multisyllabic words, suffixes -s, -es)
- practicing word chaining and phoneme manipulation
- segment words into syllables
- explicitly teach sentence writing and fluent sentence reading
