How do you use these in your classroom?
These task cards are a great hands on center for your students to complete either independently or with a partner. When students are moving through literacy centers, I like to assign these task cards for students to complete. You can also use these in small groups as you guide them through the activity and re-teach as needed.
What is included in this unit?
There are five ifferent task card centers included in this unit (with 20+ cards each):
These literacy center task cards are a great way for students to practice words with open and closed syllable! There are five different task card centers included in this unit:
- Read & Find:Â here students will read the word and circle the correct word
- Open or Closed?:Â here students will read the word and decide if it is a closed or open syllable. In the 2-syllable version, students will circle open if there is at least one open syllable in the word.
- How do you break it?:Â here students will read the words both ways and circle or clip the correct way to break the word.
- Chop it!:Â here students will use a dry-erase marker and draw a line to show where the word is separated into syllables
- Finish it… here students will complete the syllable to finish each word!
Please note: these cards should be laminated so they can be used with dry-erase markers over and over again.
Please note: These task cards are already included in the SJT Literacy Club.
