How do you use these in your classroom?

These task cards are a great hands on center for your students to complete either independently or with a partner. When students are moving through math centers, I like to assign these task cards for students to complete. You can also use these in small groups as you guide them through the activity and re-teach as needed.

What is included in this unit?

There are four different task card centers included in this unit (with 20+ cards each):

  • True or False: Here students will use the 10 frames to subtract the subtraction equations and see if the difference given is true or false. They will circle the thumbs up for true or the thumbs down for false after subtracting. Students can use an expo marker to fill in the ten frames and then erase what needs to be subtracted.
  • Add and Clip: Here students will look at the number in the middle of the grid. Next, they will go around the grid and read and solve the equations. Students will then clip all of the equations with the target difference.
  • Analog/Digital Clock Match: here students read the time on the analog clock and draw a line with a dry erase marker to the correct digital time.
  • Draw It!: here students will use an expo marker to draw the hands on the analog clock to match the time on the digital clock.
  • Do the times match?: here students will look to see if the analog clock and digital clock times match. They will circle the thumbs up picture if they do or the thumbs down picture if they don’t match.
  • Which clock?: here students will read the time in word form. Next, students will circle the clock (analog or digital) that displays the matching time.

Please note: these cards should be laminated so they can be used with dry-erase markers over and over again.

Please note: these task cards are already included in the SJT Math Club.
