I have some sad news.
Our district is having budget “issues” and to make a long, long, long story short, they have just implemented a RIF (reduction in force).
They have a clip here:

Side note: it is very strange to hear your voice on TV… I don’t think I really sound like that!
How do they so layoffs in your neck of the woods?!?
Give me all your good thoughts this summer as I try to find a position for this upcoming Fall!!
Susan
Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm glad to hear your principal is going to bat for you. She sounds like someone who will be great to have in your corner. Keep us posted! (You were on Wheel of Fortune? So impressed.)

I am so sorry! Hopefully things will change. I know its never an easy situation. We had tons of that in Florida.

That just stinks! I was RIF'd once upon a time and was devastated too! You had such composure during your interview…despite your news, you looked great and sounded very professional! Sending prayers for a call back or a new position in your near future!
A Pirates Life for Us
Pink slips are not fun. I have been teaching 17 years. I switched districts 5 years ago and lost all my seniority. I got pink slipped 3 years in a row. It was not fun. Luckily, I was hired back every time. Unfortunately, you probably will have to wait all summer. I was hired back the Friday before school started. I will think good thoughts. I am new to the blogging world so come check my blog out. I hope to post so much more this summer!

Oh, no – I'm so sorry. π A friend of mine got her pink slip today too. I hate how all of this is playing out. Hopefully by August, everyone will have their jobs back. You did a great job on the news. I'm glad you put the link up since I'm never able to watch the evening news.

You did a great job representing on the news. I'm sorry this has happened to you! It really does have nothing to do with job performance and that's what makes it so much worse. Your principal sounds like a good person to have on your side though. Sending positive thoughts your way!

NO!! Susan, I am so sorry. Although I only know you in the cyber-world, one can just tell that you are a dynamite teacher. Keep your chin up, friend.

I'm sorry to hear your news, Susan. I did not think you sounded funny on the news – I thought you did well. π
Here's hoping the perfect position opens up for you!

I am so sorry to hear that! That is awful and something that I would not wish on anyone. I wish you good luck in the future and will be saying a prayer for you and your family!

My bloggy friends.. you are all so sweet!! Thank you for all your kind words, they mean so much to me π Happy thoughts, happy thoughts….
OH NO! I am devastated for you! We had a few RIFs in the middle and high school, but elementary was safe for this year. We've been told though that next year will be a different story. Hang in there! I will be saying prayers that it all works out!
Rowdy in First Grade
I'm also sorry to hear about this. It happened to me several years ago-they built a new school across the street and we lost 1/2 our enrollment, they pink-slipped (and the principal wrote down some info for me on a pink sticky note!) about 1/2 the staff there-all by seniority.
I think it was meant to be for me, because although it was hard to find another job I landed in a really awesome school! I'm sure the same is in the cards for you! π
